Dr. Stephen Kowalewski, Professor Emeritus, Department of Anthropology, University of Georgia talks about the "recent archaeological and ethnohistorical research in the Mixteca Alta region of Oaxaca indicates an exceptional degree of demographic and economic development with a highly productive agroecosystem during the century before the Spanish conquest of AD 1521.
