A new voice for interdisciplinary studies

Jackie Krasas, Associate Professor of Sociology, has been tapped to fill a newly created position: Associate Dean of Interdisciplinary Programs and International Initiatives. Her appointment in this role reflects the increasing importance at Lehigh of academic programs taking students outside the US and outside the traditional boundaries of scholarly disciplines (see a recent news item about this trend from the Office of International Affairs). Dr. Krasas directed the university's Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) program for a decade. Several other department faculty are involved with interdisciplinary programs including Africana Studies, Asian Studies, Cognitive Science, the Environmental Initiative, Global Studies, Health Medicine & Society, Islamic Studies, Latin American Studies, Sustainable Development, and WGSS.

Congratulations, Jackie!
