Kelly Austin wins Frank Hook award

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Sociology Dr. Kelly Austin, who has been named to the prestigious Frank Hook Assistant Professorship. This award is granted to junior faculty members who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to teaching. It was established in honor of Dr. Frank S. Hook, who from 1952 to 1989 taught in the University's Department of English.

Kelly's devotion to her students in courses like Research Methods and Data Analysis (SOAN 111), Political Economy of Globalization (SOC/GS 126), and Global Health Issues (SOC/GS 322) has been apparent since she joined the department in 2012. She frequently works with her students to prepare original research for publication, and has been an exceptional mentor for a new generation of sociologists trained at Lehigh.
