Job candidate talk: The sociology of golf, April 17

On Thursday, April 17, Dr. Hugo Ceron-Anaya will give a public research presentation entitled "Golf is a Combat Sport: Towards a Relational Understanding of Sociology." Dr. Ceron-Anaya is currently visiting assistant professor in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology, and is a candidate for a tenure-track position as assistant professor of sociology with the department. His talk will begin at 4:10 p.m. in Maginnes 111.

Professor Ceron-Anaya received his M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom. His research interests include globalization, immigration, the body, social theory and  race. He has taught a wide variety of courses at Lehigh such as Sociology of Sports, Development of Social Theory, Cultural Study & Globalization, A Nation of Immigrants: The American Experience, and Sociology of the Body. His article “A Sociological Perspective on the Body, Gender, and Golf in Contemporary Mexico,” is presently under review by Sociological Inquiry.
